These are assets which are often grouped into agriculture (corn, wheat, cocoa, coffee etc), energy (natural gas, coal, oil etc) and metals (copper, gold, platinum etc). Since commodities contracts are priced in U.S. dollars, there is typically an inverse relationship between the value of the dollar and commodity prices. When attractive, we invest in commodities and commodity linked securities. We may also buy or sell short commodities with a view to augmenting absolute returns, or use this strategy as a means of reducing volatility. We may also achieve returns from fee and interest income earned through the advancement of short-term secured finance, and may engage in risk participations and risk sharing arrangements. We focus primarily on investments relating to energy commodities such as crude and refined products.
